Because temperatures in the caves are almost always above the freezing temperature, bizarrely shaped icicles form in some places. This ice stalagmite is about one metre high and consists of very pure, solid ice. It shines in many colours when being lit up by a flashlight. Sometimes gigantic, up to head sized snow flakes and single ice crystals form in the undisturbed air inside the caves.
