Mt. Erebus Antarctic expedition 2007 - Image 58 of 58

My hand luggage stands on the Ross ice shelf, waiting for me to carry it into the approaching US Air Force aircraft. In the meantime, fast blowing snowflakes, the messengers of another approaching large Antarctic storm system, find their way into the keyboard of my luckily waterproof field laptop. At this time it was not yet clear if the C17 aircraft could lift off before the storm arrives. Finally it did, outrunning the storm by only half an hour, and bringing me home safely just two days before Christmas.
